This thing is pretty self-explanatory. I'll only call out a few points:
There's conditional formatting so that <today> gets highlighted blue
It's intentionally narrow. That's so that it renders better on your phone
There's a key for color-based "Tags" up top. On my calendar, I use the tags to indicate where I was or will be on a given day (I travel a lot). Here's a snapshot

Make sure you have the Sheets app downloaded to your phone
Follow these instructions (the first response is exactly what I did, except I typed "googlesheets://" rather than "googledocs://"). Here's me doing it:
