Google Sheets Running / Training Log

Updated: Aug 11

Simple Google Sheet for logging your runs. 10 marathon and half-marathon training plans pre-loaded

Google sheets running log. Forest Gump would use it
Google Sheets is as Google Sheets does.

Don't get me wrong - the apps are great. Strava, MapMyRun, Peloton, Garmin, etc etc. I use these apps. But I also like having a simple running log that I can fully customize. That's what I use this Google Sheet for.

The set up instructions are in columns B and C of the "LOG" tab.

Here's what I like about this thing:

  1. The fields are customizable. I chose to put "Zone 1-3%" and "Crosstraining Notes" in there, but you can do whatever you want. Remove fields. Add more ("Average Heart Rate" and "Last Mile Pace" are a couple I've used in the past)

  2. There are 10 marathon and half marathon training plans pre-loaded. All are from Hal Higdon. To show your support for Hal, consider buying one of his books.

  3. That said, you can easily customize the plans. Or create your own from scratch. Just edit column I of the "LOG" tab

  4. Lastly, the template is build to easily accommodate multiple people (training alone kind of sucks, doesn't it?). Just duplicate the "LOG" tab. And now multiple people can have their own log in the same file

    • Note: you'll probably want to update the "SUMMARY" tab too, so that it shows total for each person. If you need help with that, you know where to find me.

Thank you to the dozens (DOZENS!) of you who will eventually read this.
